Seligman survives Pirate attackIndians win<br>Majors title

The Parks Pirates put a scare into the Seligman Indians Friday night in the Williams Little League championship game. But the Indians exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to escape with a 10-8 victory.

The two teams each scored runs i the first inning. Seligman got on the scoreboard when leadoff batter Hugh Campbell singled and later scored on a triple by Tom Cothrun.

But Parks pitcher Laramy Schmid settled down and the next three batters went down to strand Cothrun at third.

The Pirates tied the game when Schmid reached base on a fielder’s choice and came around later to score.

Seligman regained the lead 2-1 in the third inning but Parks came right back and took the lead 3-2.

The Pirates seemed to have the upper hand after scoring four times in the bottom of the fifth. The Parks lead was 8-4 heading into the final inning.

As many opponents found out this year, don’t ever count Seligman out. The Indians went to work and scored the go-ahead run with two outs.

Montoya pitched for the Indians and got the win.
