GC basketball teams<br>open against Williams

GCNP — The Grand Canyon High School boys and girls basketball teams will each open the season Nov. 30 at the Orange & Black Tournament in Williams. And both Phantom teams drew the host Vikings in the first game.

The Williams-Grand Canyon games will be the featured matchups on day one in the Vikings’ high-school gymnasium. The Grand Canyon-Williams girls will play at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by the boys at 8 p.m.

The following day, Dec. 1, Grand Canyon’s girls will play at 9 a.m. against Fredonia in the middle-school gym. The boys will follow against the same school at 10:30 a.m., also in the middle-school gym.

Later in the day at 3 p.m., the Grand Canyon girls will take on Laughlin-Nev., in the high-school gym. The Phantom boys will play Laughlin at 4:30 p.m., in the same gym.

Each team in the tournament plays one game Thursday and two on Friday.

Based on win-loss records in pool play, teams will advance to designated games on Saturday in the championship round.
