Oliver ‘Bert’ Canaga
Oliver “Bert” Canaga, 76, died Aug. 26, 2000 at his home in Williams.
Mr. Canaga was born in Sacramento, Calif. to Roy and Lelia Canaga, and was grandson to the late Oliver B. and Hattie Ellen Sutton.
Mr. Canaga came to Williams from Phoenix in 1941 prior to entering the U.S. Army. He served in Italy during World War II and was awarded the purple heart for injuries he received.
Mr. Canaga worked around Williams at different service stations, and owned his own filling station for a while.
Mr. Canaga was preceded in death by his father and brothers Roy Thomas and Stuart F. Canaga.
He is survived by his sisters Margaret Parker Sutton and Hattie Willie Inman as well as a host of family and friends.
Funderal services will be held 1 p.m. today (Aug. 30) at Stewart Chapel in Williams, with burial in the Williams Cemetery to follow.
