Margaret Rekos
Margaret Sutton Rekos, 89, of Payson AZ died Aug. 18, 2001. She was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Winslow, the Daughter of Oliver and Hattie Sutton.
She married Edward E. Rekos on Jan. 24, 1928.
Mrs. Rekos was a homemaker and an avid outdoors woman. She was well known and respected as a successful pro bass fisherman, winning several tournaments and awards.
She and her husband built the Lost Canyon Ranch in Williams, in 1938. It is now being developed into one of the largest Christian youth camps in the United States.
Her husband; her parents; three sisters, Lelia, Mildred and Alma; and four brothers, Fred, Tiny, Parker and Leon, also her son, Eddie, preceded Mrs. Rekos in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeri Longenbaugh and Barbara Beard, of Payson; her brother, Bill Sutton, Sr. of Williams; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Green Acres in Scottsdale Aug. 23, 2001.
The family request donations be made in Mrs. Rekos’ memory to the RTA Hospice or the Humane Society.
