During the period of Nov. 24-30, U.S. Park Rangers at Grand Canyon National Park reported the following incidents:

Sunday, Nov. 24

o An emergency medical call was taken (site not reported) of a 7-year-old boy who suffered a ground-level fall, striking the back of his head. The parents refused treatment and transport.

o An emergency medical call was taken at the Bright Angel dining room of a 58-year-old woman complaining of shortness of breath. The woman refused treatment and transport.

o Rangers issued a verbal warning to an 18-wheeler parked at an overlook for out-of-bounds camping. The individual left.

o Rangers responded to a report of a missing 16-year-old boy at the Bright Angel trailhead. The teen was found within a half hour of the report by the reporting party.

o Rangers responded to a report of marijuana use in a Bright Angel Lodge room. No illegal activity was found.

o An emergency medical call was taken (site not reported) of a National Park Service employee (sex, age not reported) suffering from a soft-tissue injury following weight lifting. The employee self-transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Monday, Nov. 25

o An emergency medical call was taken at Maswik Lodge of an 83-year-old woman with shortness of breath. Medical treatment and transport was refused.

o An emergency medical call was taken at Albright apartments of a 48-year-od man with hypoglycemia-related problems. The man was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

o Rangers reported numerous slide-offs of vehicles on Desert View Drive. Some accidents had property damage, but none had injuries.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

o Rangers responded to a report of a motor-vehicle accident on Village Loop Drive. The rear-end collision accident caused property damage. No injuries were reported.

o Rangers responded to a report of a distraught teen-ager over the rim at Mojave Point. A subject was not found.

Wednesday, Nov. 27

o Rangers responded to a report of a yellow SUV driving on the Shrine bike path heading west-bound. Rangers were unable to locate the vehicle.

o Rangers responded to a report of a dumpster fire in Boulder alley. The fire was caused by burning ashes.

Thursday, Nov. 28

o Rangers responded to a fire alarm at Albright Training Center. The cause of activation was unknown.

o Emergency medical calls were taken (locations not reported) involving a 65-year-woman, 67-year-old man and 50-year-old woman.

o An emergency medical call was taken on the Dripping Springs Trail of a 54-year-old woman with an injured ankle. The hiker and a companion stayed overnight the previous evening on the trail and hiked up the Hermit Trail to request assistance. The woman was flown out and transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Friday, Nov. 29

o Rangers responded to a report of a man missing from a group on a day trip. It was later discovered the man had taken a shuttle to their Flagstaff hotel.

o An emergency medical call was taken (site not reported) of a 52-year-old woman with dizziness, nausea and tightness in the chest. The woman was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Saturday, Nov. 30

o Rangers responded to a report of a motor-vehicle accident involving a shuttle bus and private vehicle. There was property damage only.

o Rangers responded to a fire alarm at Albright Training Center. The cause of activation was unknown.

Phantom Ranch

Wednesday, Nov. 27

o A ranger assisted two hikers on the North Kaibab Trail Tuesday night. The hikers were attempting a rim-to-river-to-rim hike and had no lights, food or water. The couple was also disoriented and spent the night at Phantom Ranch.

Indian Garden

Saturday, Nov. 30

o Rangers retrieved litter, tended to several minor medical situations and reported about 500 day hikers past Indian Garden.
