The Lady Phantoms began that weekend with the setback to the Antelopes, a fellow 1A North Region member. With the loss, Grand Canyon’s conference record now stands at 1-3, the lone victory coming over Music Mountain.
"They were competitive in both Seligman and Mayer," Grand Canyon coach Andrew Aldaz said. "We had some good first and second quarters. The girls had a better offensive game than in the past, something we’ve been working on."
Aldaz was out of town without his scorebook, therefore the final scores and individual scoring was not available. Grand Canyon did lose both games in double figures.
The team also lost junior varsity games to Seligman and Mayer.
Grand Canyon was led by Melissa Monroe. Aldaz said his guard "had some good games" and added that work continues to get the ball inside to the post players.
There was a change on the schedule and the Phantoms will play at home Friday. The Lady Phantoms will host Ash Fork Friday at 5:30 p.m. before hitting the road for St. Michael on Saturday.
The junior-varsity girls will play Ash Fork Friday at 2:30 p.m.
