WPD
promotes bike safety Saturday
The Williams Police Department will re-enforce bicycle safety Sat., Oct. 12 during a bicycle fair. The event will be held from 1-3 p.m. at the Williams Forest Service Visitor Center on Railroad Avenue. The event is free.
WPD officers will provide road safety tips along with proper hand signals and sign interpretation. Participants can test their cycling road skills on a course outlined with cones and signs. Rim to Rim Cyclery are donating their services and will inspect bicycles for safety and perform minor repairs and tune-ups.

Think Christmas
It’s time to think about Christmas in October if holiday plans include cutting a Christmas tree on one of Arizona’s national forests.
Applications for a tree-cutting permit are available now and must be mailed in with the permit fee of $10 by Oct. 12.
Applications are available in Williams at the Williams Ranger District, Williams Visitor Center, Williams Supervisor’s Office, Williams Library, Williams Post Office, National Bank of Arizona, Stockmans Bank, Safeway, Quik Pic, Sportway and Canyon Gateway Mobil.
DARE needs help
Officer Mike Russell, DARE coordinator for the Williams Police Department, is seeking donations for a yard sale.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the DARE program in Williams. The sale will be held once enough items have been gathered.
Donations can be dropped of at WPD, 501 W. Route 66. For more information, contact Officer Russell at 635-4461.
