Senior class to crown Mr. Orange & Black March 26

The senior class will be hosting the first annual Mr. Orange and Black Pageant at 7 p.m. March 26 in the Williams High School Gym.

Tickets are on sale now from any senior class member. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Admission is $2 per person. Children ages five and under are free with one paying adult.

Come and support the seniors.

Head Start seeks applications

The Williams-Grand Canyon Head Start is accepting applications for enrollment for this school year. Children must be three-years-old by Dec. 31, 2002.

Community input needed at school improvement meeting March 25

Community input is encouraged at the next Williams Elementary-Middle School improvement meeting March 25. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the WEMS auditorium.

The Arizona Department of Education has required the district formulate a long-term improvement plan. Several meetings have been held during the past month. Areas of focus have been designated. During the meeting, input will be sought from the community, parents and staff members of the district on how to remedy the issues facing the WEMS.

Vet clinic offers services March 26

Plateauland Mobile Veterinary Clinic will be in Williams from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 26. The clinic will be held at the city parking lot.

Prevent diseases such as parvo, distemper and feline leukemia with yearly vaccinations. Puppy and kitten vaccinations are given at eight, 10 and 12 weeks of age.

WAAG hosts

vaccination clinic on March 29

If you have a dog or cat in your life that needs a vaccination, circle March 29 on your calendar. The Williams Animal Action Group is hosting their annual vaccination clinic at the rodeo barn, 800 Rodeo Rd. from 12-3 p.m. The clinic is co-sponsored by the city of Williams and the Williams-Grand Canyon News.

Veterinarian Karla Baker of the Coconino Veterinary Clinic will be providing rabies vaccinations for dogs at a cost of $5 each, said coordinator Kali Kaliche.

WAAG volunteers will administer kennel cough dog vaccinations for $5 each and DA2-PCV — a distemper, parvo and corona combination vaccination — for $5 each. Feline rabies vaccinations will be offered at $5 each and a CVR-feLeuk — feline leukemia, distemper and other feline diseases — for $10 each, said Kaliche.

A city of Williams representative will be available selling city dog licenses for 2003. The cost is $5 per license and is required by city codes for all dogs in the city limits. In order to obtain a dog license, proof of a current rabies vaccination must be presented, she said.

Earth Fest 2003 plans underway

Earth Fest 2003 will be celebrated this year from April 22-26.

There will be nightly seminars April 22-25 and a science fair and tour of the homes on April 26. Don’t miss out on this educational and extremely fun event. Venders who have an environmental message are welcome to participate in the science fair.

College offers course to assist business owners

Coconino Community College in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center announces a hands-on six-week evening non-credit course specifically designed for the business owner or prospective business owner who wants to increase traffic and make more money.

Courses include:

• Overview of current market and current trends.

• Employees, the most valuable resource your business produces.

• Where is my business? Where do I want it to go? How do I get from here to there?

• Low-cost or no-cost promotion and marketing strategies for your business.

• Networking within the community to increase your bottom line.

• Creating win-win, cost-effective and beautiful brochures, flyers, Web sites and collateral material for your business.

Space is extremely limited. The course lasts April 1-May 6. Classes will begin at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at Coconino Community College, 3000 N. Fourth St., Room C4 in Flagstaff. The registration fee is $100 per person.
