The Grand Canyon Middle School boys basketball teams swept three games in Parks Saturday.
The Phantoms’ A team took a 38-16 victory over Maine and a 41-24 win over Ash Fork. The B team downed Maine, 19-12.
In A-team action, Emanuel Webb had big games in both victories. Webb hit for 18 points to lead the Phantoms past Maine. Grand Canyon got off to a 10-6 through the first quarter and had a 21-10 advantage by halftime.
In the other game, Grand Canyon shot out to a 9-2 lead over Ash Fork in the first quarter but was only up, 14-10 at the intermission. In the third, the Phantoms went on a 12-4 run to put the game away.
Webb scored 16 and Colin Hopkinson had 10 in the 17-point win.
The Phantoms’ B team slowly pulled away from Maine and then held on in the end. Grand Canyon allowed just four points through the first three quarters before Parks tried to rally in the fourth. The Phantoms held on for the seven-point win, getting eight points from Mike Eck and seven from Billie Booth.
Grand Canyon’s A team (4-2) and B team (2-2) will see action again this Saturday with a trip to Ash Fork. Seligman and Maine are also scheduled to play.
