Woman dies in crash on 64

A local woman was killed early Tuesday in a head-on collision on State Route 64, approximately three miles north of Williams.
Diana Desiree Linseth, 47, of Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Department of Public Safety press release.
The accident occurred around 5 a.m. when a white Lincoln Navigator driven by 28-year-old Ken Tomatsu, of Yamato, Japan, collided with Linseth’s white Pontiac Grand Am. Tomatsu was reportedly driving northbound in the southbound lane on his way to the Grand Canyon.
Tomatsu and a passenger were not seriously injured.
“He forgot he was in the United States and that’s how they drive in Japan,” said DPS Sgt. Jack Hegarty. “That’s what he told the officer.”
Vehicles drive on the left side of the road in Japan.
The accident remains under investigation, but authorities do not expect criminal charges to be filed, though a civil traffic citation would likely be issued said Hegarty.
