Following is a rundown of events from the Grand Canyon, Tusayan and Valle area.
Wednesday, Jan. 26
4:30 p.m. — Community Outreach meeting for parents with students at Grand Canyon School, Red Feather Lodge, Tusayan.
5-7 p.m. – Community Vision Forum hosted by District 1 County Supervisor Carl Taylor, Zuni Room, Grand Canyon Squire Inn, Tusayan.
7-8 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at Kachina Lodge, Kachina room.
Thursday, Jan. 27
8 a.m. — Grand Canyon School annual spelling bee, Grand Canyon School multi-purpose room.
11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. — Story time for ages 2-5, Grand Canyon Community Library.
6 p.m. – Performance by Artist in Residence Kirby Soderberg and Grand Canyon students, school multi-purpose room. Donation of $1 per person or $5 for family goes back into the AIR program. Refreshments follow.
Friday, Jan. 28
6-8 p.m. — Coffeehouse and open mic night, Grand Canyon Rec Center. Share your talent, enjoy other performances, free coffee and cocoa.
7-8 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at Kachina Lodge, Kachina room.
8:15-9:15 p.m. — Al-Anon Family Group meeting at Thunderbird Lodge, Kiva room.
Sunday, Jan. 30
6-9 p.m. – Open gym basketball, Grand Canyon School multi-purpose room, only ages 16 and above admitted.
Monday, Jan. 31
7-8 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at Kachina Lodge, Kachina room.
Tuesday, Feb. 1
7-9 p.m. – Open gym volleyball, Grand Canyon School multi-purpose room, only ages 16 and above admitted.
Thursday, Feb. 3
11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. — Story time for ages 2-5, Grand Canyon Community Library.
Sunday, Feb. 6
3:30 p.m. — Superbowl Party, Grand Canyon Rec Center. Bring your favorite snack; the Center provides the beverages.
6-9 p.m. – Open gym basketball, Grand Canyon School multi-purpose room, only ages 16 and above admitted.
Monday, Feb. 7
7-8 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at Kachina Lodge, Kachina room.
Tuesday, Feb. 8
6:30 p.m. — Grand Canyon School Board, Grand Canyon School Library.

Tuesday, Feb. 15
6 p.m. — Grand Canyon PTA meeting, Room 431, Grand Canyon High School. All community members are welcome.
7-8 p.m. — Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at Kachina Lodge, Kachina room.
Ongoing events
“Writing Down the River: Into the Heart of the Grand Canyon,” at Kolb Studio through Feb. 20. This visual and literary exhibit is adapted from the book of the same title by Kathleen Jo Ryan. It celebrates the experiences of 15 women writers who boated down the Colorado River. Sponsored by Grand Canyon Association and Grand Canyon National Park.
Kolb Studio: Images of the Past, daily at 3:30 p.m. (by registration only). Tour the 100-year-old Kolb Studio on the Canyon rim behind Bright Angel Lodge and learn about lives and historical adventures of these Grand Canyon pioneers. Register at Kolb Studio or by calling 638-2771.
Glimpses of the Past, daily at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Tusayan Museum at Desert View. Learn about the ancient people who called the Canyon home 800 years ago and explore a Puebloan ruin along a short paved trail.
