California man dies in accident

A 62-year-old California man was killed in a head-on collision last Wednesday at mile marker 223 on State Route 64.

The victim was identified as Michael S. Breslow of Rancho Santa Margarita.

According to Lora Pitsinger of the Tusayan Fire Department, the accident occurred at 9:28 p.m. The victim was driving a 2006 Pontiac four-door sedan, heading southbound on 64, when he crossed the center line, striking a northbound truck carrying five passengers.

Pitsinger said Breslow's speed was estimated to be around 105 miles per hour at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Pitsinger this is the second traffic-related fatality this month. On Wednesday, April 5, a 58-year-old man, Vaughn Kidman, was involved in a head-on collision at mile post 221. He died about a week later from those injuries, Pitsinger said.
