Residents can learn about the park's prescribed burn schedules for the North and South rims and its updated evacuation plan at an open house today, from 5-7 p.m. in the Community Building.
According to park Fire Information Officer Kirstin Heins, it will be in an informal format with fire and EMS managers available to answer questions or provide more information.
"There will be no formal presentation," she said. "If someone stops by and they're only curious about the evacuation plan, that's fine."
Though the recent wet weather may have postponed the onset of severe fire conditions, Heins said fire managers want residents to remain vigilant.
"There is a lot of potential out there because it was such a dry winter," she said.
The open house will include information on removing fuel material from around homes to minimize fire risks and open up access for firefighters.
