Letter to the Editor

Thanks to Grand Canyon-Tusayan community for strength and support

Open letter of thanks to the members of the Grand Canyon-Tusayan community:

In February of this year, our father, husband, soul mate and greatest friend Arney Kovin was killed at Great Smoky Mountain National Park. His life was celebrated with enthusiasm and decorum amongst his beloved friends at Grand Canyon near Yaki Point the following month.

Without the hard work, sacrifices, generosity and expressions of love from our closest friends and the employees of NPS, this event could not have happened. Many of you never knew Arney, but in the true familial spirit of the Tusayan, Grand Canyon and NPS communities, you nevertheless committed your all to assist with picnic tables, toilets, parking, permits, food and many more tasks too numerous to list. It has in reality been seven months since we lost Arn, but to our family it seems a mere heartbeat. Although belated, we extend never-to-be-forgotten, heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your kindnesses. You have overwhelmingly filled our hearts, providing us with much-needed strength to begin reassembling our lives.

Jeanne, Chris and Melissa Kovin
