William ‘Bill’ Ballard Jr.

Bill passed away from cancer Aug. 1, 2007, in his son's home in Springville, Utah, with his family by his side.

Bill was born Sept. 18, 1942, in Snowflake to William Ballard and Roxy Amos. Bill served a mission to Scotland after which he married Sharon Gray in 1964 in the Mesa Temple. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, worked as a fireman, power plant supervisor, business owner and served as branch president for the Grand Canyon Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a devoted husband and father. Bill loved camping in the mountains, the smell of rain on pine, family and Christmas tree "hunting." He loved life and was always happy.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon Ballard, and their four children, Lenay Porter, Bryan Ballard, Lori Ashton and Jared Ballard, and 18 grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters, India Williams, Paula Ballard and Becki Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Scott Ballard.

A viewing was held on Aug. 10 at the Main Street LDS Chapel in Snowflake followed by a memorial service.
