Rotary plans chili cookoff, community grant awards
Grand Canyon Rotary hosts its annual chili cookoff on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Tusayan Fire Department.
Everyone is invited to enter traditional chili, alternative chili, salsa, cornbread and tortillas for cash prizes. Judges will make their choices and there is also a $50 prize for the people's choice winner.
Competitors must have their entries on site by 5 p.m., with tasting starting at 5:30 p.m. Non-chefs are invited to come and taste for free. Beer and water will be for sale.
Community grant awards will also be announced that evening. To apply, send a letter describing your organization and the use you intend for a grant. Send to Grand Canyon Rotary, Community Grant Committee, P.O. Box 699, Grand Canyon, Ariz., 86023.
