Woman rescued after fall in Canyon
Visitor suffers fractured leg

A woman was rescued after she fell over the Canyon rim while trying to take a photo on Sunday

The fall was reported to park dispatch at 12:17 p.m. Reportedly the woman approached the Canyon rim to take a picture about 300 feet west of Mather Point and lost her footing. She fell about 25-30 feet.

A medic rappelled down to her and stabilized her lower left leg, which was fractured in the fall. She was then put in a litter and hauled to the Rim by rope. She was transported by ground ambulance to Flagstaff Medical Center.
