Student show to open at Kolb

In celebration of National Youth Art Month, Arts for our Parks, the annual juried exhibit of local student work, runs at Kolb Studio next month.

The opening reception is Wednesday, March 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Kolb studio. The show, titled "The Face of Our World," runs through March 30.

Rec Center to host blood drive

The Rec Center will host a United Blood Services Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 25, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Rotary to host Easter egg hunt

Grand Canyon Rotary Club hosts their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 22 starting at 10 a.m. at Grand Canyon School

It will feature a hunt for candy-filled and hard-boiled eggs followed by games with prizes.

The Easter Bunny will also pay a visit to greet youngsters and hand out candy.

Book fair under way this week

Grand Canyon School Library and the PTA host the annual Scholastic Book Fair through Thursday, March 6.

The fair will be open during both lunch times, after school from 4-5 p.m. and on a special family night tomorrow from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in conjunction with the PTA and the Hands Across the Border Fiesta.

KLC enrolling for preschool

Kaibab Learning Center is currently accepting applications for children to attend their preschool program.

This program runs Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-noon. It provides a full curriculum preparing young children for kindergarten, including numbers, letters, colors, shapes, counting, math and reading skills. For information drop by the day-care or call Norma at 638-6333.

Flagstaff vet to visit GC kennels

Dr. Fred Bush will be at the Grand Canyon Kennels on Tuesday, March 11, from 12:30-2 p.m. Dr. Bush has been providing veterinary care and services to the residents of the Grand Canyon area for 28 years.

County calling for applications

Each year, Coconino County provides funding for health and human services programs through non-profit organizations within the county. Applications for Fiscal Year 2008-2009 funding are now available.

Applications for funding must be submitted no later than 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11. Any non-profit (501c3) organization providing health and human services in Coconino County is eligible to apply.

Yoga workshop for kids planned

There will be a kids yoga workshop this Friday from 9-10:15 a.m. at the Rec Center.

It is for grades one-four. The cost is $8 for one session, $28 for four classes or $48 for eight classes.

Other Friday workshops are set for March 28, April 25 and May 16. For more information and to register, call Jennifer at 638-3307.

International pot luck set

Everyone is invited to share food and culture from various parts of the world on Sunday, March 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the Rec Center.

It is hosted by Grand Canyon Assembly of God.
