Rangers carry torch for Arizona Special Olympians
Resident and former Special Olympian joined Grand Canyon rangers on their leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Arizona Special Olympic Games. At 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, they ran six and a half miles from Mather Point to the Tusayan McDonalds. There, they were served a free breakfast.
This annual event traverses Arizona and kicks off the Special Olympic games across the state.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics was started in 1981 and was quickly adopted by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics.
