Fundraisers can help with holiday shopping

Residents can buy presents, wrapping and other goods and help local youth at the same time through several fundraisers currently under way.

Grand Canyon Cub Scouts are selling Scouts Honor Cards. These $20 cards entitle the holder to discounts at retail outlets, hotels, restaurants and service companies both in northern Arizona and nationwide.

Discount offers are good for one year. Proceeds help with troop expenses for the coming year.

The Odyssey of the Mind team is selling holiday greenery. While orders have already closed, there will be extra greens for sale at the General Store starting Dec. 2 until they are sold out.

Contact Michele Martin for Scouts Honor Cards and OM greenery at 638-0740.

Because they held past fundraisers with Innisbrook and Rada Cutlery, the PTA gets a percentage of online sales with both companies if customers use the school code.

Innisbrook, which offers gift wrap and trimmings, gourmet candy and other gifts, returns up to 50 percent of sales back to Grand Canyon PTA if customers use the school number, 118830. Place orders at

www.innisbrook.com.

Along with cutlery, Rada offers other kitchen toys, quick mixes, cookbooks, stoneware and soy candles. To order online, visit ww.helpourfundraiser.com and enter Internet ordering number 501309 and password gcpta. Orders take about two weeks.

PTA also has community cookbooks available for sale. These books, which are in their third printing, are $15 and make great gifts. Contact Jackie Brown at 928-890-7296 if you're interested in purchasing one.

The Grand Canyon PTA regularly supports many school programs including the Artist in Residence, Camp Colton, Earth Day, Odyssey of the Mind, Educational School Trips, Spelling Be, Visiting Author, Teacher & Staff Appreciation, Scholastic Book Fair and many others.

If you have a fundraiser you'd like listed, contact Jackie Brown at 928-890-7296 or send information to gcnews@grand-canyon.az.us.
