Artist picked for residency on North Rim
Singer-songwriter and national touring artist Bernice Lewis has been selected as the first Artist-in-Residence of the season on the North Rim. She will be working and presenting on location from May 21-June 2.
Lewis, who currently resides in Williamstown, Mass., is a former resident of Flagstaff and the South Rim. Much of her original repertoire reflects her extensive travels and focuses on her love of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado Plateau.
Lewis has performed on NPR's Mountain Stage, the Millenium Stage at the Kennedy Center, the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Sheridan Opera House in Telluride and more. She has worked with Dar Williams, Bobby McFerrin, Roseanne Cash, Christine Lavin, the Dixie Chicks, Patty Griffin, Patty Larkin and Peter, Paul and Mary.
She is currently a professor of Songwriting and Performing at Williams College in Williamstown and at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She is also a producer and recording artist with six albums of original material to her credit. Her latest release, "She Undoes," was recorded at OGM studios in Nashville, Tenn., and produced by Grammy award winner Charlie Chadwick (John Carter Cash, John Jorgenson, Suzy Bogguss). It features 12 new originals and an unusual cover of the beloved Joni Mitchell song "A Case of You." Red House Records recording artist Cliff Eberhardt joins Bernice for a duet.
