GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - The Lady Phantoms scored some wins and some losses in recent games. The Grand Canyon girls traveled to Williams for an away game Sept. 18 to take on the Williams Lady Vikings team. Both the varsity and junior varsity (JV) teams played in the Sept. 18 match. The JV squad played two games, taking losses in both, with final scores of Grand Canyon 17, Williams 25, and Grand Canyon 10, Williams 25. The Lady Phantoms varsity team played three games, losing each with a final score of Grand Canyon 10, Williams 25, Grand Canyon 6, Williams 25, and Grand Canyon 18, Williams 25.

Following their loss to Williams, the Phantoms hosted Northland Preparatory Academy at home Sept. 19. The girls played a total of five games to start the matches, with Northland Prep taking a 25-21 win in the first game and a 25-11 win in the second. Grand Canyon rallied for the last three games, however, taking a 25-23 win in the third game, a 27-25 win in the fourth match, and a 15-7 victory in the fifth game.

The JV Phantoms also tallied up a couple of wins in the Sept. 19 game, beating Northland Prep with a final score of 25-19 in the first game and 25-13 in the second. The varsity squad returned for four games following the JV wins, but failed to pull off the victory in the second group of matches against the scrappy Northland Prep team. The Lady Phantoms grabbed a 25-13 win in the first game, and fought in the last three. Northland Prep kept a step ahead, however, and pulled off a 25-18 win in the second game, a 25-23 win in the third game, and a 27-25 win in the fourth match.
