Chamber seeks new director
Offices reopened this week following closure
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - The search is on for a new Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, following the departure of former Executive Director Craig Andresen. Andresen left the chamber last week. The offices, while closed last week, have since been reopened, said Grand Canyon Chamber and Visitor's Bureau Board President Clayann Cook.
"The office is open and manned with people who can assist with all the traveler's needs, answer questions and support the membership," Cook said.
She added that chamber officials are currently seeking a new executive director for the visitors bureau. Officials began the search during last week's convention for the Arizona Office of Tourism in Tucson.
"In our development process at the Chamber and Visitors Bureau, our goal in the future is to provide a better visitor experience, have better communication with our visitors in advance of their vacation," Cook said. "There's a lot of things we need to be focused on, such as taking back the real Grand Canyon from Nevada and continuing our efforts to improve our membership, to enhance and grow each one of their businesses. We are in the process of making some changes to further enhance and meet those goals."
The Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their offices are located within the village shops in the downtown Tusayan area off of Highway 64.
"As of next week it will be seven days a week. We've only been operating 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday," Cook said.
