GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Members of the Grand Canyon Rotary Club are offering $1500 in community grants, but the deadline for applications is just around the corner. Applications must be submitted before Sept. 15.
Rotary grants are awarded to non-profit organizations for programs and projects that benefit the local community. The group funds the community grants through their annual fundraising event, the Holiday Dinner Dance.
The money goes towards making a better community for those who live in the community.
Grant recipients will be recognized at the upcoming Rotary Chili-Cook-off on Sept. 26 to be held at the Wild West Experience. This free event for the community is a perfect time to recognize recipients. The award winners will be publicly announced at 6 p.m. The free chili tasting gets under way shortly after 5 p.m. Chili submissions must arrive before the 5 p.m. deadline. Entry categories include traditional chili, non-traditional chili, vegetarian chili, salsa, tortillas and cornbread. Category winners receive $50 each.
Grant requests can be sent to the Grand Canyon Rotary Club Community Grants Committee at P.O. Box 696, Grand Canyon, Arizona 86023.
