Editorial: Don't just stand there - take a picture
The News is here to help you promote your event. Please put us at the top of your list when you are planning an event or having a community meeting. We need to know in advance - at least one week - about the event you are sponsoring or organizing. This allows us time to write a news brief or sometimes even a story, promoting your event. We also encourage you to list your event on our online events calendar. Visit grandcanyonnews.com, and click on "Submit an event." This online service is user friendly and best of all this service is free.
Every week, often more than once, we hit the road and head to the Tusayan/Grand Canyon area to attend community events and school functions - taking photos in order to help promote your event in our publication.
Many of our readers remember a time when the News had a permanent reporter living at the Canyon. While that scenario is no longer an economic reality, we still strive to cover your community as completely as possible.
But, I'll warn you. We may occasionally need your help.
If you have a camera and see something unique happening, take a picture and share it with the community in the News.
Small newspapers are unique in that they truly belong to the readers. Inside a small town paper, readers will find stories about themselves, their families and their neighbors. Everybody is or has a story. Don't forget that this is your newspaper. We look forward to promoting your events and sharing your news. Give us a call at 635-4426 or e-mail us at
