Grand Canyon AA meetings

Members of the Grand Canyon Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meet three times weekly at the South Rim. The group meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Kachina Room of Kachina Lodge. Meetings for the group begin at 7 p.m.

Poker Night

The Rec Center invites community members to test their poker skills and luck against those in the Grand Canyon community this evening. The event is free and play begins at 7 p.m. in the Piano Room.

GCS Halloween Carnival Saturday

Grand Canyon School will celebrate the spookiest time of year on Oct. 27 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The event is for children of all ages. GCS welcomes children in costume. Experience the haunted house, bouncy house, cakewalk, guessing games, games of chance such as dart throw, bingo, etc. Organizers will also serve an enchilada dinner for all attendees. Karaoke Planet - Halloween Edition

On Saturday, the Rec Center is hosting a karaoke night. Community members may bring their own music or choose from the many songs in the Rec Center's karaoke library. Those submitting an Internet song should come prepared with the specific Internet address. Music starts at 6 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room

Rocky Horror Picture Show and sing-along

On Saturday, the Rec Center welcomes community members to dress in costume and view/participate in their free showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. The fun begins shortly after 9 p.m. in the Multi Purpose room.

Pumpkin Carving/Painting Social Gathering

On Sunday, the Rec Center invites the community to carve or paint pumpkins with community members. A limited number of pumpkins are available for purchase at the Rec Center. A limited number of carving tools and painting supplies will be made available. The Rec Center encourages attendees to bring their own supplies and materials. Refreshments will be provided for all participants. Meet at 6 p.m. by the Rec Center Fireplace.

Scary Movie Marathon

A Scary Movie Marathon begins at 2 p.m. in the Rec Center television lounge on Oct. 31.

If you have a scary movie you would like to contribute, see Mark at the Rec Center front desk. Refreshments will be served.

Pumpkin Carving/Painting Contest

The second annual pumpkin carving/painting contest is Oct. 31. Judging takes place at 6 p.m. by the Rec Center fireplace. A limited number of pumpkins can be purchased at the Rec Center. All pumpkins need to be displayed at the Rec Center by 6 p.m. Contestants can claim/retrieve their pumpkin beginning at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Prizes will be awarded to top three finishers.

Sedona Camping Trip

The Rec Center invites you to enjoy the fall colors in the greater Sedona area on Oct. 29 to the 30. Activities planned include full-moon hike in Red Rocks State Park, camping in Dead Horse Ranch State Park, and hike one or more of our country's premier trails. Trip fee includes all transportation, park fees, camping fees and moonlight hike fees. The Rec Center front desk has a list of suggested camping supplies. Trip Fee: $35 per person. Meet in the Lobby at 6:45 a.m. Pay in advance to reserve a seat.
