A challenging day of fun and, at times, intense athletic endeavors ensued at the 17th annual Grand Canyon South Rim Property Olympics and Picnic. All Grand Canyon Xanterra departments were represented in the Olympics as well as employees from the regional headquarters in Flagstaff. The teams participated in several events that included: Memory Match, Amoeba Race, Bean Bag Toss, Word Scrabble, Ladder Ball Toss, Puzzle, and Obstacle Course.

Families attended with children of all ages and a lavish buffet included all the fixings of a hefty cowboy barbecue and fun desserts, including snow cones.

"We had the best turnout in years and fed over 1,000 employees and their families," said Jon Streit, Xanterra South Rim General Manager. "All the games were a great success and the monsoon rain held off. All in all it was a great day."
