Music Together offers demo class tomorrow
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Music Together is back at the Grand Canyon.
Classes aim to bring families together in a musical environment, as children learn best from role models and parents who are making music right by their side.
Children age birth through five and their parents/caregivers sing songs, explore instruments and move to music in a relaxed, playful setting with no performance pressure. Participants also receive a songbook, parent guide booklet with DVD, newsletters and two professionally recorded CDs for more family fun at home.
Music Together's nine song collections-each identified by its own color, instrument name, and graphic-are presented in a three-year cycle of three semesters per year.
The collections are non-sequential, so families may join at any semester and attend class for three full years before cycling back to re-experience collections from their growing children's ever-changing perspectives.
This fall, classes will focus on the flute collection.
"All children are sounders and movers, and their natural aptitude for music blossoms in a sufficiently rich music environment, Music Together instructor Suzanne Avantyr said. "In fact, when given a supportive music environment, children learn to sing and dance as naturally as they learn to walk and talk."
The family-like setting of Music Together's mixed-age classes enables siblings to attend together, creating an ideal learning environment where infants, toddlers, and preschoolers can freely participate at their own levels.
"Our Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement," Avantyr said. "We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so."
Avantyr is offering demo classes on Aug. 22, 9:30 a.m and 6 p.m. at the Grand Canyon Recreational Center. Registration is open for the next 8-week Fall Trimester starting Sept. 5 through Oct. 24.
More information is available by visiting www.musictogether.com or by calling Avantyr at (928) 890-9734.
