Charles S. Ashworth, 61, of Spring Hill, Fla. passed away Jan. 28, 2014 at Gulfside Hospice Center at Bayonet Point in Hudson, Fla. Chuck lived and worked in Grand Canyon from April 1992 to August 2009. He was the Executive Steward for Xanterra South Rim. Chuck was born in Weymouth, Mass. on Jan. 16, 1953. He moved to Spring Hill, Florida five years ago from the Grand Canyon.

He enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing cards and spending time with his family and his dogs, Max and Fenway. During his tenure at the Canyon he impacted many lives. One of Chuck's most recognized roles was playing the role of Santa Claus at the Xanterra employee holiday dinner. Chuck could also be found volunteering on Saturdays cooking for the AYSO soccer games. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and David Coombs; father and stepmother, Charles and Helen Ashworth, Jr.; brother, David Ashworth and sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Wade Gowen.

To the outside observer Chuck may have shown his East Coast persona, a little gruff and to the point, but those close to him knew he had a heart of gold. We will all miss him very much.
