GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Grand Canyon invites northern Arizona artists to help the park celebrate Earth Day in a unique way this April.

The theme of Earth Day this year is water conservation and the Grand Canyon Green Team is calling all artists to create an art piece comprised of 75 percent recycled materials with a focus on water bottles.

Submitted pieces will be displayed during Earth Day events, which will be between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 20 at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. The show is open to artists of all ages. Entries should be comprised of at least 75 percent recycled materials with the focus on recycled/used items including used water bottles. Art should weigh no more than 50 pounds and must be able to fit in the bed of a small pickup truck. All art pieces must be delivered to park headquarters on April 18 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and any art left after 2 p.m. on April 20 will be recycled.

Grand Canyon's Green Team is comprised of employees from various National Park Service divisions, park concessioners, and park partners collaboratively working to increase the awareness and level of environmental stewardship within the Grand Canyon community. More about Grand Canyon's Earth Day Art Show is available by contacting Green Team member Cynthia Valle at cynthia_valle@nps.gov or Ian Ferris at ian_ferris@nps.gov.
