Letter to the editor: Community helps GCS collect 13,000 Boxtops for Education
To the editor:
Dear Grand Canyon and Tusayan community members and organizations,
Thank you once again for continuing to support education at Grand Canyon Schools by contributing to both Boxtops for Education and Labels for Education programs. On Thursday, Grand Canyon Middle School students counted over 13,000 boxtops that will result in a check for $1,370. A huge thank you to the IMAX for donating two huge bags of boxtops that totaled over $700. The students also sorted and counted 560 labels for the Labels for Education programs.
Last year's collections resulted in the purchase of several leveled readers for elementary students for the library, timers for reading fluency, listening centers, scientific calculators for Science Fair prizes and several pieces of equipment for the physical education classes.
The next deadline for label drop off is May 22. You can continue to drop off labels at the following locations: Grand Canyon School office, Kaibab Learning Center, Grand Canyon Community Recreation Center, Xanterra Human Resources, and Delaware North's office.
Thank you for all your continued support. It is truly a blessing to live in such a generous and caring community. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
More information about Boxtops for Education is available at www.labels4education.org and www.labelsforeducation.com.
Sincerely,
Lori Rommel
Grand Canyon School Labels Coordinator
