Xanterra gives $50,000 to employees
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Showing appreciation to their employees during a time of uncertainty and as an appreciation for hard work performed throughout a busy holiday season, Xanterra gave away $1,000 to 50 employees.
"It's a thank you to them for all their hard work through this uncertain time with the contract's expiration and waiting for the temporary contract to be assigned," said Jon Streit, general manager of Xanterra South Rim, LLC. "We also had an extremely busy holiday period this year because the weather was so good."
Eligibility for the drawing was determined by several stipultions, including: a hire date before Dec. 1, 2014, having no unexcused absenses for the contest period, running from Dec. 9, 2014 to Jan. 4, 2015 and employed by Xanterra on the date of the drawing.
The drawing took place on Thursday, Jan. 8. Refreshments were provided for over 150 employees in attendance. After expressing his appreciation, Streit drew 50 individual tickets from a hopper each worth $1,000 each.
In addition to the $1,000 given to winning employees, Xanterra gave an additional $50 to all of their employees right before Christmas.
"They worked really, really hard and this is just a way of thanking people," Streit said.
The money won during the drawing will be added to the next paycheck of each winner.
