Salute to those who served: Memorial Day at Grand Canyon's Pioneer Cemetery

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - On May 25, members of John Ivens Post 42, Unit 42, and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 42 conducted a Memorial Day service at the Grand Canyon Cemetery. Members of Boy Scout Troop 7230 from the Grand Canyon helped to secure the flags during the ceremony. Keynote speaker for the ceremony was Doug Lentz, chief of concessions at Grand Canyon National Park. Lentz was previously the Superintendent of the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. During the memorial service at the cemetery, Norma Gomez, member of John Ivens Unit 42, and Miguel Rocha, member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 42, placed the wreaths in memory of those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
