Trail restoration at El Tovar to last through October
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Starting July 1, Grand Canyon National Park's trail crew plans to begin repairs to the trail and staircase between the Grand Canyon Railway train depot and the El Tovar Hotel on the South Rim of the park.
During the repairs, the trail and staircase will be closed, however, people walking to the Rim will be able to reach the Rim Trail and the El Tovar Hotel by following a clearly marked detour. While the detour is long, and a steady uphill climb, it is accessible by wheelchair and strollers.
For visitors arriving on the Grand Canyon Railway, the railway does provide an accessible bus at the depot for its riders.
The repairs will begin July 1 and the walkway will be closed until its scheduled completion on October 31.
