TUSAYAN, Ariz. - Starting April 1, the Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn is proud to announce that David P. Chavez will assume the title and responsibilities of general manager of the hotel.
Chavez will take over for Greg Bryan, who has been with the hotel for 17 years as general manager. Bryan will continue with the company as vice president and chief operating officer and will provide oversight for the ownership.
Chavez has many years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has worked for the MGM Grand Hotel and Casinos in Nevada, Casino Arizona and the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale and most recently oversaw both casino and hotel operations in Jamaica.
Chavez joined the Squire Inn team last October as the assistant general manager.
Bryan said he is excited to welcome Chavez to the hotel's team and is looking forward to working with Chavez.
"We are thrilled to have David take over the leadership of our great Premier Team and take it to new heights in meeting and exceeding our guest's expectations," Bryan said. "He brings a fresh look to premier service and will be a great addition to our community as it grows."
Chavez said he, his wife Christine, and son Kaden, are looking forward to moving to Tusayan and becoming a part of the community.
The hotel is currently in the midst of a substantial multi-million dollar renovation and addition project. The project includes renovating the exterior of a 57-room building, adding a new building with 68 guest
rooms, a new laundry building, the addition of a new indoor pool/fitness facility and an outdoor pool and children's play area. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015 with the new rooms available this summer.
The Squire Inn is one of only 25 Premier properties in the 2100+ Best Western North American hotel family and is privately owned and operated by Elling & Barbara Halvorson and John & Liz Seibold.
Both families have long and generous relationships with the Tusayan/Grand Canyon communities.
