Letter to the editor: Continuation of excellence in the first grade classroom
It is never easy on a school when a teacher transfers during the school year, but, it is exceptionally difficult when the teacher is the caliber of Ms. Kelsey Crosby.
When Kelsey came to me before the winter break, she showed her dedication to our students by asking me what I thought she should do. Naturally, I responded that she should go to Colorado with her family even though I knew our chances of finding someone of her caliber would be extremely difficult.
Then, we began the process of looking for an excellent replacement. Our first response was to advertise at several universities and to look at our existing staff. And, after a bit of soul searching, Ms. Deb Goepfrich agreed to finish the year for us. I felt as though I had hit a homerun in the World Series - I was able to replace excellence with excellence.
I am happy to announce that your first grader will not miss a beat in their academic growth. They will go from an extremely kind, competent, experienced first grade teacher to an extremely kind, competent, experienced first grade teacher.
I join you and your first grader in wishing Ms. Crosby all the success in the world in her new adventure. May she continue to serve students in her extremely positive manner.
I also join you and your first grader in our sincere thanks to Ms. Goepfrich for giving of her time and energies to insure a positive transition for your child and for her dedication to the children and community of the Grand Canyon.
Thank you Kelsey for your commitment to our school. Thank you Deb for your commitment to our school.
