GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Despite snow and freezing conditions, runners in the annual Grand Canyon Half Marathon braved the 13.1 mile course May 7.

The half marathon started in the parking area north or the IMAX Theater in Tusayan, wound through national forest trails and roadways before coming full circle at the IMAX's parking lot. Tusayan and Grand Canyon residents lined the course offering encouragement, water, snacks and warm smiles.

Utah resident Walter Brown took first place with 1:30:29 time and pace of 6:54 minute miles.
