The Phantoms played at home this week, facing off against Williams in an exhibition game on Tuesday, Dec. 5, and starting league play against Rock Point on Friday. The boys played a scrappy game against Williams despite being without star player Bille Booth, finishing 52-44 in Williams' favor. Scoring were Emanuel Webb with 21, Paul Garza with 9, Daniel Trenchard with 6, Lydell Talas with 6 and Cruz Caballero with 2. The loss in the first conference game with Rock Point was narrower, at 59-55. The boys won on Saturday against St. Michaels. The Lady Phantoms haven't fared as well, but Head Coach Dan Lopez said they showed great spirit and promise for a fledgling team. "The girls are really improving even though the scores may not be showing that," he said. "I think by mid-season we will be winning a lot of ball games."
