Flagstaff vet to visit GC kennel

Dr. Fred Bush will be at the Grand Canyon Kennels on Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Dr. Bush has been providing veterinary care and services to the residents of the Grand Canyon area for 28 years.

Call (928) 779-4565 for an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.

All plastics are now recyclable

The South Rim Recycling program through Norton Environmental is now able to recycle all plastics, numbered and unnumbered. Previously, plastics labeled 1 and 2 were the only ones that could be recycled.

Plastics and all other recyclable materials can be placed in the large tan dumpsters and containers labeled recycle. Plastic bags will still need to be brought to the Rec Center or General Store.

Fundraiser for former residents

To help Peggy and Marcus Fuhrman, two former Grand Canyon teachers facing medical and other costs, there will be a fundraiser featuring Exit 64 at the Community Building on Saturday, March 15, starting at 6 p.m.

The cost is $10 in advance, or $12 at the door. In addition to live music, guests will enjoy pizza and soft drinks donated by area businesses.

Food will be served from 6-8 p.m. followed by desserts. Beer and wine will be available for sale.

A raffle will also be held and prizes donated by area businesses will be given away.

The Fuhrmans taught for several years at Grand Canyon. Marcus taught high school English and Peggy taught fourth grade.

Marcus is currently battling cancer and several Grand Canyon residents are organizing this fundraiser, with all proceeds from the event going to help the Fuhrman family.

Put on your dancing shoes and come on out for a good time and support some great people!
