Kaibab Learning Center plans summer enrichment

Kaibab Learning Center will offer a summer enrichment program for children ages five-12 with guest speakers on a variety of topics, science and ecology activities, computer skills, creative arts activities and themed educational explorations.

Destination Science, June 15-19 and 22-26. Week one includes fossils, geology, bats, stars and astrology and gardening. Week two covers archeology, outdoor museum activity, mountain lions, condors, songbirds and more.

Computer Adventures, June 29-July 3. Park Service computer specialists teach programming and other cool computer stuff for kids ages eight-12.

Creative Art Workshops, July 6-10. Activities include painting and photography, creative cooking. There will also be a visit by storytelling ranger and author Lori Rome, and her inspirational puppies Soap and Salt and music with SuZan.

Career Week, July 13-17. Careers include backcountry rangers, wildland and volunteer firefighters, health care, APS, search and rescue, field guide and more.

Sessions run from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuition is $145 per week not including lunch or snacks. If your child is already enrolled at Kaibab full-time for the summer, they will participate in the programs at no additional cost. For more information contact KLC at (928) 638-6333.
