The Grand Canyon News is your newspaper. Like many small cities across the nation, hometown newspapers survive with the help of those who live in the town. Here at the News it's no different. Our newspaper is built on community support, as it has been since the turn of the century when it was a part of the Williams News. Back then, the Grand Canyon News did not have its own section as it does today, but community involvement remained.
Each week community support is reflected within the pages of the newspaper. Photographs by Sharon Weems can be found in this week's edition. Like many in the area, Weems attended the recent Thunder Over the Coconino event at the airport in Valle, held the weekend of Aug. 29. Weems shared her wonderful photographs with us here at the News, many of which can also be found online in our photo galleries sections at www.grandcanyonnews.com.
Do you have photographs you would like to share with the News? As a community newspaper, we would love to see them. Do you have photographs of the Phantoms in action? The Lady Phantoms? Sports photos are always welcome as well. Do you have an event coming up that you would like to see in the local newspaper? Send the information our way.
There are a number of ways to contact the Grand Canyon News. Stories, ideas and photos can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or at email@example.com. Editorial staff can also be reached by calling 1 (800) 408-4726 or (928) 635-4426. Drop us a line, whether it's to offer suggestions or to offer a tip on an upcoming event; we would love to hear about it. As with most community newspapers, and most daily newspapers as well, we can't always be everywhere and we need your help to ensure that your event gets the coverage it deserves.
Readers are also invited to submit letters to the editor. Is there an issue you want to sound off on? Drop us a line at P.O. Box 667, Williams, AZ, 86046. Letters can also be sent via fax by dialing (928) 635-4887. There are a few guidelines that letter writers need to keep in mind. Letters should be brief and signed by the writer. Full names and the city where the author resides must also be included for the letter to be considered for publication. An individual's first and last name, address and phone number need to be included for verification purposes. Letters should be limited to 300 words and may be edited. An individual may submit a letter to the editor every 60 days.
