We Cook Pizza and Pasta listed in Pizza Today magazine's top 100
TUSAYAN, Ariz. - Pizza Today named We Cook Pizza and Pasta restaurant, located in Tusayan, Ariz., one of the magazine's "Hot 100 Independents" in their October 2012 issue.
The national trade publication pits independent restaurants against each other with a show of highest gross sales. We Cook Pizza and Pasta restaurant was ranked number 87 of the country's busiest pizza restaurants.
According to General Manager Brian Ciesielski, this distinction is one of the highest marks that an independent pizzeria can receive.
"We Cook Pizza and Pasta has consistently set itself above other mom- and-pop type restaurants by providing high quality service along with the best available pizza ingredients available," said Ciesielski. "It's a recipe that seems to work pretty well for us."
Ciesielski's formula for success involves attracting the best employees available, and then retaining these key individuals to provide the most positive customer experience, and the best employee interactions possible.
"We try to provide a comfortable work environment for our employees and encourage each employee to achieve his or her full potential," Ciesielski said. "We realize that the best results come from positive reinforcement, active coaching, and consistent training. Our employees think like managers, and our managers think like owners. This helps us to control our expenses and minimize costs better than most restaurants."
Wayne and Margi Cook opened We Cook Pizza and Pasta in 1981. The couple converted the Chicken Shack Restaurant to a "fast-food" style pizza restaurant. The formula worked so well that the restaurant grew and was able to recently expand into the adjoining ice cream store and patio.
